An inter-war memorial comprising a tall tapering Celtic cross on a battered base and stepped plinth. On the W side facing the church are weathered panels in low relief, depicting the archangel Michael and Christ in blessing. A memorial inscription below is to the 1914-18 war dead. The rear has a cross in bolder relief. The base has added panels in polished granite, bearing the names of the 1939-45 war dead.
Listed for its special historical interest and as a well-detailed memorial in a prominent position that contributes to the setting of the church and the historical integrity of Church Street.
