Late C19 terrace of cottages, probably built during the ambitious programme of building and rebuilding of Plas Tan-y-bwlch estate properties in the 1870s and 1880s under the direction of William Edward Oakeley. Offered up for sale in the auction of the Plas Tan-y-bwlch estate, 1910, in Lot 12 'The Picturesque Rural Village of Maentwrog'. The property was described as Frongoch - a block of 5 cottages, occupied by sundry tenants, for an annual rent of £21-10s-0d.(£21.50)
Belongs to a group of:
1-5 Fron Goch Terrace.
Two storey terrace of 5 houses, of simple vernacular character, built of roughly coursed rubble masonry with long stones as quoins and lintels. Slate roof with rectangular stone ridge stacks with dripstones and capping.
Located towards the far end (N) of the range. The house has a central doorway with flanking windows; 2-light timber casements with slate sills, first floor windows set under the eaves.
The interior was not inspected at the time of the survey (July 2003).
Listed as one of a late C19 terrace of small dwellings of simple traditional character. The terrace is little altered and forms a group with other buildings in the centre of the estate village of Maentwrog.
