History

A County bridge to the design of Thomas Penson, County Surveyor, as rebuilt before 1847.

Exterior

A single span bridge in local shaley stone with an elliptical arch of about 10 m; rusticated voussoirs and triple keystone to both faces. String course at base of parapets.

The carriageway is about 4 m wide with orthostat sandstone parapets about 0.8 m high slightly turned out at each of the four corners to piers.

An important bridge by Thomas Penson, County Surveyor, in the early C19.
