Former detached hospital block built c1890, to designs by E.V. Collier, as hospital for infectious diseases for the Joint Counties Asylum. Later used as detached wards, called Taf and Nevern, disused at time of resurey.
Former infectious diseases hospital, rockfaced rubble stone with Bath stone dressings and slate roofs overhanging at eaves. Roughly H plan. Two-storey centre with single-storey wings and end wards. Centre has rebated angles and hipped roofs, 1-4-1 bays of 4-pane sashes in flush chamfered surrounds, with doors and overlights in outer bays of 4-bay part. C20 doors. Plinth, band and sill-course. These have 2 parallel roofs, the inner one hipped over shorter range with long sash window to inner side and pair to S end looking into open lean-to porch/veranda in angle to longer outer range. Outer ranges are gable ended with overhanging eaves over hipped roofed canted bay with 1-2-1 long 12-pane sashes. Door in inner side wall, within veranda which has rendered stone pillars to 2 bay front. Outer side walls have sash windows and C20 flat roof addition.
