Probably C18 cottage. The cottage was not marked on the Tithe Map of the parish, 1841, however the map was not comprehensively annotated and few buildings were drawn. The cottage was on part of Rhyd y Cadell land, owned by William Pritchard Lloyd Esq and occupied by Thomas Jones, weaver, and his family in1841.
Single storey vernacular cottage with flat roofed addition built against the N gable. Built of rubble masonry, limewashed. Roof of small old slates, grouted, stone copings to S and tiled copings at N end; massive square stack with dripstones and capping at S gable (to inglenook) and rendered rectangular stack at N. The principal elevation faces an enclosed garden to the E, a 2 window range with door between, openings offset to the R (N); windows are small paned sashes. The rear elevation has a tiny single window to the S end. The flat roofed addition has rendered elevations and modern casement windows.
Interior not inspected at the time of the survey .
Listed as a good example of a rural cottage which retains a strong vernacular character in plan, materials and many features, such as the large stack, grouted roof and windows.
