Late C19 gate lodge built to serve Pale Hall.
Rectangular Victorian gate lodge of brick construction with sandstone ashlar facings; slate roof with tiled ridge and oversailing verges with decorative cusped bargeboards. Large central brick chimney with panelled sides and moulded stone capping. The lodge consists of a main 2-storey gabled range, with catslide verandahs to both sides. These are slated with boarded upper ends and bargeboards as before. That to the road side is open to the front half and acts as a porch with part-glazed door within. That to the park side is open and is supported on 5 wooden posts on brick plinths. The main, gabled elevation is symmetrical and has a 2-light window to the ground floor and a wooden canted oriel above; plain 2-pane original sashes.
The interior was not inspected at the time of survey.
Listed as a good late C19 lodge retaining unaltered external character.
Group value with the Gates and Screen Walls at Pale Hall.
