C19 timber lychgate by J P Seddon as part of the restoration of 1876-7.
Lychgate, painted oak with slate hipped roof. Two square posts with arch-braces on 4 sides: those E and W carry cross-beams with moulded ends, longer outer ones carry roof hip, and inner ones carry roof ridge. Posts above cross-beams up to ridge. Diagonal boarding under slates, shaped rafter ends. Two iron gates with spearhead rails and dog-bars. Crested clay ridge tiles.
Included as an unusual piece of High Victorian timber design by a leading Victorian architect, and as part of a group with the church.
