The three farm buildings at Rhiwerfa are set parallel with their E gable ends aligned on the farm road. They were probably all built in the mid C19, with the barn at the N, the cowhouse at the centre, and the shorter carthouse at the S.
Built of coursed slate rubble on boulder foundations, with a slate roof between raised gables. The barn has opposed small central cartways with ashlar blue slate lintels, one now blocked on the N side, and two tiers of slit ventilation openings each side, with a further three in the end gable. Four inconspicuous roof lights at the upper (W) end.
Not accessible at the time of inspection.
Included as an unusually well preserved barn of the mid C19, a major element in a group of farm buildings planned as a series of parallel ranges, a fine example of a type of farm layout which is characteristic of this area.
