This tomb slab is inscribed to the memory of ? Philpot and is dated 1820. Its appearance suggests that it will have been constructed very soon after the death.
This is a tomb consisting of a partly legible inscribed sandstone slab which is within a complete railed enclosure with gates. Wrought iron railings with cast vases on the main stanchions. The stone railing bases have been reset in concrete.
This is included as a good example of an early C19 churchyard tomb which retains its railings complete. It also has group value with the Church of St Stephen, the Walker Memorial lych-gate and the adjoining railed enclosure.
