The bridge was probably built in the mid C19 to carry the road on an even grade over the gorge of the river.
The bridge is built with local coursed shale and stone. The stilted semi-circular single arch is formed with flush even shale voussoirs rising to a keystone, flush spandrels and horizontal string, with a parapet. It spans approximately 6m, and carries a carriageway 5.5m wide with parapets of 50cm each side.
Included as a typical well preserved bridge in a dramatic setting, part of the main road improvements that took place during the C19.
