C19 limekiln. It appears on the 1887-8 map as active, but is known to have been disused by the mid C20.
A very small limekiln in axe-dressed local conglomerate rubble masonry, in fairly complete condition. One working opening only, with roughly corbelled sides and rear. The kiln is about 3m in height, plus a semi-drum at the top slightly recessed from the face, with brick coping.
The interior is about 2.5m diameter reducing to about 1.5m near the base. Vitrified firebrick lining.
A very well preserved small limekiln, representing an important local trade.
