Shown on the 1839 Tithe Map, the cottage and attached limekiln are contemporary with each other; the limekiln is now partially converted to domestic use.
Cottage and attached limekiln. The cottage is of single-storey 2-room plan, aligned north-south and has the roughly L-shaped limekiln attached to the north. Roughly coursed rubblestone to both cottage and limekiln, with buttered pointing and slate roof to former. Cottage has 4-paned sashes with slate cills to either side of slightly offset 4-paned window replacing original entrance; rendered integral end stacks. Southern section of limekiln (now converted to domestic use) projects from north-eastern corner of cottage and has 2 C20 windows and a door to the front; the next section is slightly recessed and has boarded double doors with a wicket door and a louvered window to the left. To the north of this and projecting at right-angles to the east, the original form of the kiln is clearest with battered walls, unbroken except for a boarded door on the north side.
Interior not accessible at time of Survey.
Included as a rare surviving example of an early C19 lime burner's cottage and attached limekiln which, notwithstanding partial conversion of the latter to domestic use, are important evidence for the coastal lime production industry in the Caernarfon area at this period.
