History

Built in the mid C19 as a group of estate cottages for workers on the Voelas Estate, probably c1845, the date shown on Nos 1 and 2. No 5 was once the village post office, and it has now incorporated the former saddlery shop at the N end.

Exterior

No 5 adjoins No 3 on the N, and fronts the Nebo Road. The entrance door in the lower bay is studded, and set within a segmental headed arch with a label moulding over, and 4-paned window above. A large external stack protrudes partly at the rear. The upper bay has a 2-light timber casement window in a small gable lighting the upper room. The cottage is now combined with the former saddlery shop, which forms a cross wing at the N end. Large ground floor shop window with a blind box extending over the framed and battened entrance door on the right. Three casement windows in the gable end, the centre 2-light, flanked by single light windows. End gable stack.
