Mid C19 lime kiln apparently marked on 1839 Tithe map.
Rubble stone large circular lime kiln with additional wall thickness projecting on N front. Some 3m high and 6m in diameter built into S bank with retaining walls. E and W sides have large kiln eyes some 2m high curved-sided tapering up to stone slab lintels, and curving inwards to stoking holes . Open round crucible in good condition.
Listed as one of the most complete surviving examples of a lime kiln of the region, unusual for the survival of the lime-burner's hut behind..
