Built c1870-75 as part of the formal west garden to Kinmel, and probably designed in the office of W A Nesfield, landscape designer and father of the architect for the new house. The fountain itself may be later in date.
Circular bowl with a rolled stone margin, approximately 15m in diameter, and having a central marble fountain, probably of later date; 4 shell bowls carried on the backs of crouching sea-horses. Above, putti ride dolphins whose tails intertwine upwards to a shallow lead-lined bowl. The interior of the pond slopes steeply to the centre.
Listed as the key element in the Venetian garden; part of the setting of this nationally important country house.
