Contemporary with the lighthouse, which was erected in 1877.
The walls enclose a compound surrounding the lighthouse and its associated accommodation - an area which would originally have included allotment gardens for the dwellings. Limewashed rubble wall with segmental copings, and smooth rendered piers to entrance gate on the N side.
A significant part of the lighthouse complex, both visually and historically as it enclosed the plot of land used as part of the economy of the lighthouse.
