Butterfly-plan villa of c.1930; in functional neo-vernacular style of Arts and Crafts derivation, bearing close similarity with the domestic work of P.M. Padmore. The design reflects the setting, the convex west-facing garden front gaining maximum benefit from the imposing views of the Conwy estuary and mountains beyond, while the NE (entrance) side fronts a metalled forecourt.
Constructed of roughcast brick with steeply-pitched hipped and half-hipped roofs of graded slates; tiled ridges. Single storey plus attic with symmetrical garden (W) front. This consists of a central block with hipped gable in 2 stages, and lower flanking wings advanced at angles. Paired and single multi-pane French doors to the central and flanking ranges respectively, the latter with narrow vertical outer windows; all are steel framed. Similar triple window to centre attic floor; central stepped brick chimney. Tripartite windows to the hipped gable ends of the arms and further windows and French doors to the NE and SE sides, in asymmetrical arrangement. Paired and triple dormer windows with flat lead roofs and, to the NE (entrance side), a tall, offset brick chimney. Simple utilitarian interior.
Listed for its special interest as a carefully designed and well-preserved inter-war villa.
