Probably early C19, but not specifically shown on 1845 Tithe map. Various breaks in the masonry suggest ongoing repairs in the C19.
Large rubble built D-plan kiln constructed partly against slope with kiln-opening to each side. The openings were possibly of the usual pointed form originally, but recessed segmental arches set above springing-level suggest later remodelling: stone voussoirs.
Disused, but has been recently restored.
Prominent and important relic of local industry.
