Small late C18/early C19 tollhouse built for the Vaughans of Nannau whose turnpike it served.
One-and-a-half storied rubble building with old slate roof; rectangular plan, the road-facing gable with canted sides and half-hipped roof. Central stack with plain capping and weather-coursing. The road-facing side has a central, recessed slate tariff plaque with a 4-pane casement window above. Similar flanking windows to the ground floor, though that to L of 2 panes; further 4-pane windows to the sides. Later porch with boarded road-facing door to NE side and a flat-roofed dormer with windowas before beyond. Single-storey modern extension to the rear.
A prominent late C18/early C19 toll house of interesting design.
