The Act for the Turnpike Road from Tremadoc to Porthdinllaen was passed in 1803, and the road was under construction in 1805. The mile post almost certainly dates from this time.
Slate mile post, rectangular but with chamfered angles. Inscribed ‘To Pwllheli 10.M. Tremadoc 3.M. Criccieth 1 ½. M.’.
A good example of an early C19 mile post using a local material.
