C16 cross-wing, C18 main range on site of earlier hall house. C18 stable at NE end now incorporated into the dwelling. Two storeys, largely rubble stone, the wing retains a small area of close-set framing, the stonework of the C18 front elevation is in coursed squared blocks. Stone tile and slate roofs. Eaves dormers to front and rear, the central front one under a wide pediment gable. Large rubble ridge stack with moulded cap, rubble eaves stack on north- west side, upper section of large rubble stack to south west side of wing removed in 1970's. South east front central door with overlight (renewed panel door), two windows both C19, three-light, under flat voussoir lintels with keyblocks. Similar lintels to random windows on rear walls. Modern openings to former stable end.
Exposed close-set timber framing in the wing with heavy jowelled posts. A partition truss and end truss have collars with close-set infill. On the ground floor is part of a square panel partition, set under a deep chamfered rail including one side of a masons mitred door frame. C18 portion has six panel doors with thumb latches and H/L hinges. Wide timber fire surround with ogee mouldings and spit rack in former kitchen.
Though modernised, Cwm Farmhouse is included as a good typical example of a stone built vernacular farmhouse with earlier wing and early dated barn nearby.
