A late C18 or early C19 cylindrical chimney with adjacent, now ruinous kilns or furnaces. Part of the once extensive lead mining and smelting industry in the area (in 1825 the Gwernymynydd Mining Company had an output of 239 tons).
Of rubble and about 60-70ft high and 10ft in diameter. Mostly obscured by a dense covering of ivy. The chimney tapers slightly towards the top. On the NE and SW sides small, brick-lined, round-arched openings at ground level. The latter is the original kiln opening, the former an air vent.
Included for its special interest to the early industrial history of the area.
