Early C20 (circa 1906) statue of William Thomas, Mayor of Swansea 1877-1878, pioneer of Open Spaces Movement, who secured the area of Victoria Park as open space; park opened in 1887, and was originally larger, including land now occupied by Guildhall. Statue and pedestal signed ‘Ivor J Thomas, Swansea’.
