Probably late C17 - early C18, extended later to rear, part of which subsequently collapsed. RCAHMW categorises it as 'Renaissance'. Appears with barn on Whitchurch Tithe Map of 1840 as at present. Appears on First Edition OS spelled Rhubina; meaning of name which later gave name to Cardiff suburb, still inconclusive, possibly 'hill of pines'.
Small farmhouse. Built of stone pebbledashed to front and side with Welsh slate roof and end stacks. Two storeys, 3-window range to each floor, 2 to left of porch one to right, replaced glazing, some cambered heads; gabled porch. To rear a catslide roof extends over lower 2-storey range, first floor windows close under eaves, one blocked left, others have glazing all renewed. Downhill facing side elevation has a stepped out section with 3/3 pane sash window; lean-to stable attached. Mounting block; garden enclosed by stone walls with stone stile to front entrance.
Plan of porch and two rooms separated by staircase. Porch with flagged floor, limewashed walls and segmental arched doorway leads directly into right room which has 2 chamfered and stopped cross beams, blocked open fireplace. Separated off by stairs, the left room has 2 chamfered cross beams papered over, an unusual bolection moulded surround to fireplace, the recesses either side with glazed cupboards; window seats. Some 6-panelled doors, some overlights, separate bread oven.
Included as a small regional farmhouse retaining historic fabric.
