Probably dates from the early to mid C19. Externally unaltered apart from the re-roofing.
Local lias limestone rubble walls with dressed stone quoins and voussoirs, stone flanking stacks, asbestos sheeting roof. Single storey, rectangular block with small outshut on rear. Main south-east elevation with shuttered window opening to left hand with large horse doorway to right of it. This has an almost flat arch voussoir head and plank doors. In north-east gable wall a boarded window with wood lintel, and a blocked slit opening in middle near ground level are reported but these are now ivy covered as is the south east gable. The rear elevation has a small boarded window in the centre.
Interior not inspected at resurvey.
Included for its special interest as a complete surviving C19 village forge.
