History

Probably contemporary with house, or maybe earlier; a wall is shown in this position in Bucks print of the early 1740s, much repaired and in sections entirely rebuilt in late C20.

Exterior

Wall of rubble stone in places approaching three metres in height. Wall extends S from the house up Hermons Hill, broken and splayed in for entrance to a garage courtyard in top corner of walled area, with two blocked doors opposite Nos 6-7, and then a rounded corner opposite No 7 where it turns E, downhill, with a blocked entry with brick sides. A section here is entirely rebuilt. It steps downhill following the footpath running E and then returns north, as an entirely rebuilt retaining wall to follow the footpath as it turns N and then continue along the top of the wooded slope over Quay Street. Inaccessible at N end.
