Early C19, L-plan, Regency front ranges with central service block largely later C19 in date linking to a former detached building on the north-west side. Cae Mawr has numerous references in Kilvert's Diary.
Two storeys with basement. Rendered with brick plinth and raised quoins. Hipped slate roof, boxed eaves. Glass roofed verandah with iron trellis supports on two sides. Central part-glazed door on north side with pilastered architrave. Drop cill sashes to ground floor, wide sixteen-pane sashes to first floor. Modern (Victorian style) conservatory adjoins south-east end.
Good survival of original details including pilaster door surrounds with roundel corner blocks, six-panel doors, panelled hall arch, panelled shutters, ceiling cornices. Stairs have scroll newel, curtail step, bracket tread ends and ramped handrail. Opening made between two former rooms on the east side framed by Ionic columns.
Listed as a well-preserved Regency villa.
