History

Early C19 front conceals earlier origins; rear wing formerly C17 timber-framed cottages.

Exterior

Two storey, two window shop, rendered front over local brick, slate roof, small rectangular end chimneys in brick. Second floor has two almost square windows with six-pane hornless sash glazing, stone sills. On first floor, two twelve-pane hornless sashes. On ground floor, to L, round-headed doorway with overlight and (modern) door; to R, later C19 shopfront with central door (part glazed, with overlight) with shop window to each side. Window frames have colonettes supporting round-headed arches (two to each front, one to door recess). Shopfront has,to ends, classically derived pilasters supporting volutes and entablature of fascia board with cornice over.
Gable end to R, has two windows to each floor. On second floor, broad-proportioned eight-pane hornless sashes. On first floor, sixteen-pane hornless sashes. On ground floor, replacement glazing respecting original openings.
To rear, two-storey wing (known to have been five cottages circa 1670). Timber-framing visible in gable (some exposed square panels), walls generally rendered .
