Probably contemporary with the Bethel Street cottages, ca 1810-20, and built as a small weaving factory. Later converted into 2 cottages and then in 1926 it became a cornmill and underwent various alterations.
3-storey, red brick structure (whitewashed to ground floor) with 2-window front and rear; slate roof with wide eaves. Cambered voussoirs to 1st and ground floors, and 3-light windows. The front, facing the terrace has 1 window with dropped sill and 2-small pane metal frame windows; boarded doors, the doorway to the left was lowered when the 1st floor was taken down - this now opens onto a low storage area. Lean-to on right gable end has been removed. 2-small pane metal frame windows to rear, 1 first floor opening lowered and those to ground floor have been blocked. 1 window opening to gable of left-hand side and double boarded loading doors, the sill of which indicates the level that the 1st floor was set at after the conversion to a cornmill - these doors are said to have come from a chapel at Van. The hoist was worked along tracks taken from the Van lead mines.
Extensively cobbled yard to rear.
Included as a rare survival of a courtyard building reflecting Llanidloes' important industrial past and for its group value with Nos 7 to 12 Great Oak Street and Nos 22-25 Bethel Street.
