C19 re-fronting probably to C17 town house. The 1976 list description describes a brick front with gauged brick heads to windows.
No.44 has good C20 replica of the C19 shop front (derived from old photos); doorway set back between display windows with 2 camber-headed lights; casing of pilasters, fascia and cornice.
No.44 is said to retain, behind modern boarding an early C17 armorial stone panel dated 1622. Large early C19 well stair with sraure rods; panelled doors, reeded cornices, contemporary chimney pieces.
