Early C19 house in terraced row, probably originally a pair with No 1 which has added top floor, windows above the door and stucco surrounds. Occupied 1926 by Capt A C Lancaster.
Terrace house, painted stucco with plain parapet. Three storeys and attic, one-window range to right and doorway to left. Hornless 12-pane sash window each floor, dormer behind parapet. To left three stone steps flanked by iron railings up to arched doorway in painted timber doorcase. This has an open pediment on big scrolled brackets over panelled pilasters with leaf motif at top under brackets. Anthemion relief motif in centre of pediment. Raised and fielded panelled reveals and similar panels to 6-panel door. Fanlight with delicate radiating tracery as at No 1.
Area railings are similar to those on No 1, wrought iron with scrolled spearheads, and opening to right to steps, the gate paired with that to No 1. Basement 12-pane hornless sash and half-glazed panel door.
Attached to left is taller block set back with parapet, with lower front addition also with parapet, windowless to street and with plate glass sash on each of 3 floors to left return wall. Main block E end has parapet, end wall stack and windows in set to right, 12-pane sash to 3rd and 2nd floors, arched small-paned window to first floor over stuccoed enclosed former porch. This has blank panel flanked by recessed strips to N and window with coloured glass under shallow gable to E. To left of this is large single storey square stuccoed addition with cornice, parapet and shallow E gable. Cornice has nogged brick course beneath, over door with overlight and 4-pane sash with brick head.
Rear wall to sea is slate hung, with parapet continuous with that of No 1. Four storeys, 2 bays, 16-pane sashes to 2 upper floors and 24-pane sashes to right window of first and ground floors. Two-storey canted bay to left 12-24-12-pane glazing and hipped roof. One-storey addition to right is also slate-hung with one sash window.
Included as stuccoed terraced house in sequence of tall late Georgian style houses along St Julian's Street.
