History

C18 croglofft cottage and outbuildings; formerly a small tyddyn farmstead, extensively modernised since the previous listing description of 1984. The small holding is recorded in the Tithe Apportionment of 1841 as owned by Thomas Williams Esq and tenanted by William Thomas, a farmer of just over 19 acres(7.7 hectares).

Exterior

Single storey croglofft cottage with converted outbuilding wings to each side, that to R (W) advanced at right angles with external steps leading to the loft; abutted by 2-unit pigsty. Built of local rubble masonry with segmental voussoir heads to openings of the cottage and L (E) wing. Modern slate roof with velux windows along the range. The cottage has rectangular stack with capping to R and larger stack to L gable; the advanced wing has a small stack in the rear (W) pitch. The cottage has a central doorway with flanking windows, the outbuilding to L has 2 doorways, part blocked and now with large casement windows; there are ventilation slits to R of the doorway at the L end and flanking the doorway to R. The range to R (W) has a single doorway to L with small light to its R, a further doorway in the return angle of the advanced wing and a wide doorway (to a former cartshed) to R.

Interior
