Probably late C16 in origin with considerable rebuilding in the early C19, with a late C19 shopfront and little alteration externally since its addition.
Stucco fronted and painted with a natural slate roof and brick stacks. Double depth plan with entry on the left. Three storeys, two windows. C19 shop front including a probably original, 6-panelled door on left with transom light. The shopfront is framed by pilasters carrying console brackets and a deep cornice fascia. Stall-riser, recessed shop entrance to right with 2-light display window to left, the lights separated by a slim timber mullion. Six over 6 pane sashes to the first floor and 3 over 6 to the second floor. Plain roof with ridge stacks with offsets.
Rear elevation not inspected.
The ground floor room has four cross-beams, suggesting an originally jettied house, and a late C16 fireplace. The upper floors were not available at resurvey.
Included for its special interest as a well preserved early C19 house with earlier origins and good character which is a part of the most complete street of historic architecture in Abergavenny.
