Probably early C19 and apparently unaltered since. This house, which was the surgery for the doctor at No. 7 adjoining (qv) was separated from the parent building in 1858 but is now again in the same ownership.
Painted brick with a natural slate roof. Double depth plan with a through carriageway on the left and house entrance centre right. Two storeys, four bays, On ground floor two windows with house door between and large plank double doors to left; these last in a broad segmental arch with plank doors. Round headed doorway with 6-fielded-panelled door and Gothic interlace fanlight. On first floor two windows in the housepart and a smaller one over the carriage arch. This may be a modern insertion since it is not mentioned in the previous list description. All windows have segmental arches, 6 over 6 pane sashes on the ground floor and 3 over 6 above; the one above the carriage arch is 3 over 3 pane. Plain roof of fairly steep pitch.
Rear elevation plain and altered.
The interior is converted into modern offices.
Included for its special interest as a well preserved early C19 house retaining good character, which is a part of the most complete street of historic architecture in Abergavenny.
