History

Dated 1588. Similar to the sundial in the grounds of kentigern hall, dated 1696; important as a rare early example.

Said to have had a well to the front and may have been brought here when the summer house was built.

Exterior

Approximately 4ft high square stone stem, with chamfered edges, with chamfered edges, formerly with sundial gnomon on top; weathered time lines visible to top. Front face is inscribed IC, MC, 1588.
