Early C19 incorporating an earlier building. It is in the picturesque style of the group of cottages and houses built for the Trevalyn Estate under the stewardship of John Boydell. It was altered late C19 with the replacement of chimneys and extensions; interior remodelling C20.
Brick, render, slate roof with red ridge tiles and red brick chimneys. Rectangular plan with extensions to side and rear, 3-storey with 2-storey wings. Symmetrical elevation except at ground floor. Upper floors have 3 windows per floor all with ogee heads, those on the top floor of smaller dimensions; cill bands painted black. Ground floor has central entrance with later gabled porch. To right a large multipaned cast-iron window with Gothick glazing detail and an ogee head, to left an arched entrance flanked by tall arched multipaned cast-iron windows. Wing to right has 1 cast-iron multipaned window with Gothick glazing and ogee head on each floor. Wing to left has later door opening with ogee head and a window with ogee head in upper floor. Rear has various additions and retains a mock arrow slit and a tall arched window.
Ground floor room has chamfered and stopped ceiling beams of C17 or earlier C18 character and there are 2 doors with ogee heads. Partial inspection at time of 1995 survey.
Group value with The Cottage and with former stables to rear.
