Probably before 1823. 2-storey and attic, 2-bay terraced dwelling with modern shop at ground. Large blocks of squared and coursed red sandstone rubble with ashlar margins.
E (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: shop to right at ground comprising deep-set part-glazed timber door and plate glass fanlight to centre with flanking fixed display windows, and further door to outer left; 2 windows to 1st floor; canted dormer window to right above and modern rooflight to left.
Non-traditional glazing. Grey slates. Coped ashlar stacks with cans.
Although heavily altered, this building is honeycombed internally with the adjacent listed building at No 35 Market Square, and retains at least some of its traditional early character within the planned New Town laid out by Robert Barclay in 1797.
