Description

Possibly 18th century. High, stepped, rectangular-plan, flat-coped walled garden with ironwork railings to S. Roughly squared and random rubble with large quoins, some squared. Segmental-arched openings with boarded timber gates to E and W; quadrant railings and gate to centre of S elevation with flight of steps leading down to further garden area. Stone-bordered paths. N elevation of N wall with lean-to range (listed separately as Stables in Stable Courtyard).

Statement of Interest

In an A-Group with Tertowie House, Stable Courtyard and Nuclear Bunker. The walled garden situated to the east of Tertowie House, and an important feature of the fine designed landscape complementing the house, is a rare survival of an early high-walled garden with paths laid out and (until fairly recently, 2004) well tended with a variety of shrubs. The fine stonework is in remarkably good condition.
