Circa 1870. Single storey 3-bay cottage villa. Symmetrical elevation to Wilson Street; central panelled timber door and letterbox fanlight; gable above with dummy arrow slit; flanking bipartite windows in advanced panels. 5 bays to rear with gablehead stack to centre; modern timber door. Single window to each gable at ground. Squared and snecked stugged sandstone with stop-chamfered ashlar openings to front; rubble to sides and rear with dressed margins. Base course. Bracketed eaves.
Original timber sash and case plate glass windows throughout; some 4-pane to rear; modern Velux-type rooflights front and rear. Grey slate roof. 3 corniced ashlar gable stacks with hexagonal clay cans (one lost to NE).
INTERIOR: altered. No surviving chimneypieces; modern stair to attic rooms. 2 original part-glazed timber doors (to kitchen and vestibule) with green and amber-coloured patterned factory glass; rectangular 4-pane fanlights over.
BOUNDARY WALLS: sandstone rubble wall to rear running E to W with cast clay coping. Squared and snecked sandstone wall to L at front with sliding timber door.
A typical example of a smart cottage villa, but where many buildings in Beith of this date and earlier have been considerably altered, this house has virtually all of its original external features intact. Its bracketed eaves, slate roof, original fenestration, stacks and gables add character; the apex stack to the rear gable is also of note.
