Mid 19th century. Cast-iron milepost. Flat rectangular post; approximately .75m in height and slightly curved in section. Painted white with black lettering. Bears low relief of hand pointing right; 'GLASGOW ROYAL EXCHANGE 21' in raised letters above. Hand pointing left below; 'ABERFOIL 5' in raised letters below.
A rare surviving early milepost. It appears on the 1865 OS map.
