Statement of Interest

Appears on both the first and second Ordnance Survey Maps as 'Carding Mill'. Still (2001) in use as weaving mill by local tweed manufacturers, Haggarts (premises at 32 Dunkeld Street listed separately). During the 19th century wool was brought here for carding, spinning and weaving after being washed and dyed at the nearby Lint Mill in Mill Street (now demolished). The 'New Statistical Account' mentions a "dye-mill, with carding and spinning machines". The Mill House is listed separately.
