INTERIOR: gutted inside; ground floor ceiling removed. Some features visible including fireplace on SW gable wall; large sandstone lintel. Stone surround to 1st floor fireplace above. NW wall, ground floor window to right; 1st floor window to far left; stone surrounds to all. NE wall, ground floor door surround to left; 1st floor door surround centred above. Modern tiled floor; modern electricity equipment.
Converted from an early 17th century house to an electricity substation for the South of Scotland Electricity board by I G Lindsay in 1962. The tall crowsteps indicate that the house was formerly thatched. The internal doors to NE suggest that this and the adjacent 20 Mid Causeway were linked internally.
