Description

Dated 1884. 2-storey, 5-bay gabled steading with 'dovecot fleche', row of 3 cart arches and lower piended T-projection to rear. Stugged squared and snecked rubble with ashlar dressings. Voussoired, segmental-headed arches with stop-chamfered arrises.

S (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: centre bay with 3 arches below hayloft door and datestone in gablehead with cockerel finial; weathervane-finialled fleche behind over diminutive 3-tier dovecot with flight holes and alighting ledges to S. Flanking bays each with broad door and window at ground and small dormer gablet (aligned toward centre) above; outer bays slightly advanced and gabled with window to each floor.

E ELEVATION: gabled bay with hayloft door in gablehead. T-projection set-back to right with sliding door to left, 2 windows to inner bays (that to left blocked) and 2 further sliding doors to outer right.

W ELEVATION: gabled bay with hayloft door in gablehead. T-projection set-back to left.

N ELEVATION: 2 broad sliding doors toward centre.

6-pane glazing pattern to timber top-hopper windows. Graded grey slates. Coped ashlar stack with polygonal cans; later brick stack. Overhanging eaves, plain timber bargeboarding with decorative gablehead braces and cast-iron finials; boarded timber doors; square-section downpipes with decorative rainwater hoppers and fixings.

GROOM'S COTTAGE: single storey, 3-bay gabled cottage with bipartite windows and timber door.
