Later 19th century. 3-stage, single bay, near square-plan Elizabethan-style folly with octagonal angle tower. Sandstone; polished dressings. Stone mullions and transoms to windows. Base course. Crenellated parapet corbelled out. Strip quoins to tower.
SE (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: panelled timber door at ground, with barred upper panels, single window at 1st and 2nd floors; corner bartizan to right. Taller octagonal 3-stage angle tower to left with irregularly-spaced narrow stair lights.
Unglazed fenestration.
Listed for its good design. Built in the grounds of Fawsyde House (see separate listing), the folly is reminiscent of Elizabethan prospect towers, such as the Hunting Tower at Chatsworth, Derbyshire. The folly appears to have been harled. Although some of the harl remains, the masonry predominantly shows through.
