Circa 1870. 4-storey tenement, 3 bays to Grindlay Street, 3 bays to Spittal Street, with slightly recessed quadrant bay to corner. Coursed ashlar with polished dressings (painted to ground). Moulded eaves cornice. Pilastraded shops with stop-chamfered openings to ground floor. Projecting cills to upper floor windows; bipartites in outer left bay to Grindlay Street, outer right to Spittal Street.
Predominantly 4-pane or plate glass in timber sash and case windows
with some modern glazing. Grey slates. Rendered wallhead and end stacks with circular cans.
Part of Grindlay's Orchardfield estate, laid out for the Merchant Company by William Burn in 1820. An importantly-sited corner block.
