Dated 1852 with later additions and alterations. 2-storey (1st floor breaking eaves), 5-bay, rectangular-plan farmhouse. Squared and snecked tooled cream sandstone to front; rubble sandstone to sides and rear; brick-built side addition. Base course; timber eaves course. Droved quoins and long and short surrounds to chamfered openings; painted mullions; projecting cills.
S (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: gabled porch projecting at centre with modern door and side-lights; shield embossed 'W.C.L. 1852' centred in gablehead with decorative bargeboards and kingpost truss. Bipartite windows at ground in bay recessed to right and 2 bays recessed to left; square-headed doorway to outer right; decorative bargeboards to gabled dormerheads breaking eaves in 4 bays above. Single storey, lean-to addition slightly recessed to outer right.
W (SIDE) ELEVATION: blind gable end.
N (REAR) ELEVATION: single windows centred at both floors; louvred window at 1st floor to outer right. Various openings at ground to left of centre.
8-pane glazing in timber sash and case windows to front; some modern windows at rear. Slate roof. Brick-built ridge and apex stacks; cans missing.
INTERIOR: not seen 1999.
A late but well-detailed farmhouse to the E of its associated steading - see separate list entry for the former horse mill and barn. Rutherfurd's notes a Mr Joseph Middlemas as farmer here in 1866.
