Earlier 19th century, built in two phases. Single storey and attic; terrace comprising pair of 3-bay cottages (Nos 14-18 flatted), each with classical pilastered doorcase to principal (S) elevation. Coursed dressed droved sandstone with polished ashlar dressings. Droved base course and eaves course. Coped gables.
S (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: central pilastered entrance with corniced frieze (to No 16) to left cottage; panelled timber door with rectangular fanlight. Flanking windows to each floor and one above; those to attic are polygonal piended dormers. Pilastered entrance with corniced entablature to outer right of right cottage (No 18); panelled timber door with rectangular fanlight. 2 windows to left to ground and 1st floors and one above.
N ELEVATION: slightly irregular fenestration. Left cottage (No 18) set forward slightly. Central entrance (to No 14) to right cottage; panelled timber door with rectangular fanlight; stair window above; roof raised slightly (as catslide) above; late 20th century single storey harled extension to left.
Modern aluminium replacement windows to No 16; 2-pane timber sash and case windows to No 14 (above); mainly 8-pane timber sash and case windows to No 18. Grey slate roofs. Coursed sandstone ridge stack with band course between 2 cottages; replacement coped rendered gablehead stack to W.
INTERIORS: not inspected (1998).
OUTHOUSE: single storey lean-to coursed sandstone rubble outhouse with droved sandstone dressings to NW. 3 entrances with boarded timber doors to principal (E) elevation; window between those to right.
Plain classical 3-bay design, probably extended mid 19th century. Does not appear (although road laid out) on Wood's map.
