The NSA mentions the existence of Drinkbetween under 'Land-owners', when together with nearby Banchory it belonged to the Philp Trust. Robert Philp (died 1828) of Edenshead owned the West Mill in Kirkcaldy and left his fortune for the running of an educational trust. Adjacent to the house is a much altered pantiled steading.
