Description

Late 18th to early 19th century. 2-storey, 3-bay house converted to shop at ground, in irregular terrace. Rendered rubble with architraved surrounds to 1st floor. 1st floor cornice over dividing frieze.

NW (HIGH STREET) ELEVATION: symmetrical. Modern door with plate glass fanlight to centre and left bays at ground, fixed display window to right; 3 windows to 1st floor with dominant gablehead stack above.

Plate glass glazing in top-opening timber windows. Slates. Coped harled stack with cans; ashlar-coped skews with tiny scrolled skewputts. Cast-iron downpipe with decorative rainwater hopper.

Statement of Interest

Gable end to street was traditional form for coastal burghs and small burghs generally, now increasingly, rare.
