Mid 19th century. 3-storey, 3-bay rectangular-plan symmetrical house with corniced shop at ground. Tooled ashlar, with polished dressings, painted at ground. Base course; cornice between ground and 1st floors; eaves course. Long and short quoins.
SE (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: 6-bay shopfront at ground, incorporating pair of mirrored 3-bay shops with modern timber doors and glazed upper panels, blind rectangular fanlights, in penultimate bays from left and right; windows in remaining bays at ground; regular fenestration to floors above.
SW ELEVATION: rendered gable, partly-obscured by adjoining 2-storey bay, comprising segmental-arched pend, with pair of recessed and mirrored vertically-boarded timber pedestrian gates, surmounted by window in bay at 1st floor.
NW (REAR) ELEVATION: not seen, 1999.
NE ELEVATION: rendered blank gable.
INTERIORS: not seen, 1999.
Predominantly 12-pane timber sash and case windows. Grey slate roof, with lead ridge. Cast-iron rainwater goods. Rendered gablehead stack; coped, with circular cans. Coped skews.
Simply detailed, contributing to the streetscape. The reinstatement of the missing gablehead stack would restore the classical profile of the building.
